What the Operators Actually Run

Dublin Coach shows no Ennis or Cliffs of Moher route on its live website, so any third-party claim of a Dublin Coach service to the cliffs is unconfirmed. Citylink runs Dublin to Galway coaches, but its booking widget uses dynamic, demand-based pricing. No fixed fare table is published anywhere on its site, and no fixed Dublin to Galway journey time could be confirmed from it either.

That leaves two realistic public-transport paths. Take a train from Dublin Heuston to Galway, then Bus Eireann route 350 west to the cliffs. Or take a train toward Ennis and board route 350 there. The Galway option is simpler and the fares are clearer. A Dublin Heuston to Galway adult single costs €30.45 ($34.72) and a day return €33.30 ($37.97).

Why the Same-day Round Trip Does Not Work

Work the numbers. The road from Dublin is 261.5 km and takes 3h 21min on a routing engine with no traffic, while the official visitor site says about 4 hours via Limerick. The gap is the two-lane roads after Ennis and real traffic.

A coach day tour such as Irish Day Tours already needs 13 hours door to door, leaving Dublin at 6:50 AM and returning to the Molly Malone Statue in the evening. By public transport you would add a Galway or Ennis transfer plus a wait for route 350 at each end. The bus runs ten departures a day in each direction, but the connection windows leave you arriving at the cliffs with no return service that gets you back to Dublin the same night. Plan a night in Galway, Doolin or Ennis, or book a day tour instead.

Every Stop on the Route

The official route page lists the full stop list. Going west to east it runs Galway Bus Station, Oranmore, Clarenbridge, Kinvara, Ballyvaughan, Doolin (multiple stops), the Cliffs of Moher Coach Park, Lahinch, Ennistymon and Ennis Bus Station. That makes it useful for two different journeys: the cliff leg from Galway through the Burren coast, and the short hop from Ennis, Lahinch or Doolin to the cliffs.

Journey times come straight from the timetable. Galway to the Cliffs of Moher takes about 1h 50m on the first departure of the day, rising to roughly 2 hours later in the day as more stops are served. Ennis to the cliffs takes 58 minutes on the 05:20 departure. Doolin sits 7 km north of the visitor centre and Liscannor 6 km south, so staying in either village puts you a short bus ride away.

Weekday Timetable, Galway to Ennis

The table below lists the ten Monday to Friday departures from Galway Bus Station with their arrival times at the Cliffs of Moher Coach Park and at Ennis Bus Station.Saturday and Sunday services also run ten departures a day in each direction, with times shifting by only a few minutes from the weekday table.

Travelling the other way, ten buses a day leave Ennis Bus Station on weekdays and call at the Cliffs of Moher Coach Park before running on through the Burren to Galway. The same source timetable gives the times below. Note how few of these arrivals at the cliffs leave enough daylight for a long visit, and how the last departures serve late shifts rather than sightseers.

Galway to the Cliffs of Moher

The Galway leg is the longer and dearer one. An adult single costs €13.50 and an adult day return €24.00, so the return saves you money if you ride back the same day or the next. Students pay €11.00 single and €20.00 return, children €8.00 single and €15.00 return. A family return is €50.00.

Leap card users do much better on singles. An adult Leap single is €9.45, and a student or child Leap single is €4.73. If you plan ten journeys on this corridor, an adult 10-journey ticket costs €68.00 and a student one €52.00.

Ennis to the Cliffs of Moher

From Ennis the fares are lower because the ride is shorter. The adult single is €10.50 and the day return €16.00. Students pay €8.00 single and €13.00 return, children €6.00 single and €9.20 day return. A family return costs €34.00, and 10-journey tickets run €58.00 for adults, €44.00 for students and €29.00 for children. Leap card singles are €7.35 for adults and €3.68 for students or children.

One detail matters. The fare finder prices the stop code Ennis B na Trocaire, which is one stop before Ennis Bus Station and a couple of minutes away. Treat these as your Ennis figures and expect the bus station stop itself to cost about the same.

Train to Galway, Then Route 350

The cleanest public-transport route is Dublin Heuston to Galway by train, then route 350 west. The train costs an adult €30.45 ($34.72) single or €33.30 ($37.97) day return. The bus adds €13.50 ($15.39) single from Galway, or €9.45 with a Leap card. Note that no same-day return to Dublin is possible once you add the connections, so you need a night in Galway, Doolin or Ennis either way.

Ennis is also reachable by rail, changing or travelling through at Limerick, but its fares are published as a lettered grid and the exact Dublin to Ennis train times were not confirmed for this page. Why a Coach Day Tour Beats The拼 Puzzle

Every coach tour from Dublin costs less than the train and bus fares combined for two people, and it covers cliff admission. Compare the three cheapest coaches compared here: Irish Day Tours at $80, the Ennis and Limerick loop by Wild Rover at $81, and Finn McCools at $82. The €30.45 ($34.72) Galway train single for one adult already eats a big slice of that, and cliff admission on your own runs €15.00 ($17.10) at the gate or from €8.00 ($9.12) online.

The tours also run daily patterns you can rely on. Wild Rover's Galway tour departs 6:55 AM at the Gresham and returns to D'Olier Street about 7:40 PM. Paddywagon's Kinvara and Bunratty day leaves later at 7:40 AM for $87 if mornings are hard.
