The bridge between the station and the visitor centre is Bus Eireann route 350. It runs Galway to Ennis through Kinvara, Ballyvaughan and Doolin and stops right at the Cliffs of Moher Coach Park. From Galway the ride takes about 1 hour 50 minutes. From Ennis it takes 58 minutes.

That means any train plan is really a train-plus-bus plan, and the bus timetable, not the train timetable, decides when you can be at the cliffs. Trains from Dublin Heuston towards Limerick run roughly hourly, with the first departure at 05:40 and the last from Heuston at 20:40. Ennis is served beyond Limerick, usually with a change or a through working, so total journey times vary and are not published in the published sources. Here is the honest gap in the fare information: Irish Rail publishes the Dublin to Limerick and Ennis fares as a lettered grid rather than a simple station list, and the page does not show plainly which letter applies to Ennis. The Bus Leg: Route 350 from Ennis to the Cliffs

From Ennis the 350 runs back north through Ennistymon and Lahinch to the Cliffs of Moher Coach Park in 58 minutes on the fastest run. There are ten weekday departures from Ennis, from 05:20 in the morning to 22:15 at night, and the cliffs arrival times run from 06:18 to 23:08 across the day.

The fare from the Ennis area to the cliffs is €10.50 single for an adult, €17.00 return or €16.00 day return. A Leap card single is €7.35. By the time you add a Dublin to Galway or Dublin to Ennis rail journey of several hours on each side, the last 350 back and the last train east, the return leg fails. The final 350 from the coach park reaches Ennis as late as 00:54 on the timetable, but no train carries you on to Dublin from there at that hour.

So the rule is simple. By public transport, the same-day round trip does not work. Plan a night in Galway, Doolin or Ennis and travel back the next day.
